As Chief Program Officer, Crazy 8s, Joy is responsible for leading coach training, developing content and fostering relationships with our after-school partners. Since 2014, she and our dedicated crew of ambassadors have shepherded more than 20,000 after-school clubs in schools, libraries and after-care centers across the nation and on US military bases around the globe. Joy is well-suited for the role with 15 years of experience leading volunteers coupled with her former position as manager of corporate communications for the National Hockey League. She holds a B.A. in communications from Allegheny College.

As Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, Sandy leads Bedtime Math’s public relations and marketing efforts. Since joining the team in 2012, she oversees our messaging and branding, and drives our advertising. Previously she worked as a producer for CBS News Sunday Morning, collecting several Emmy Award nominations along the way. When not fielding press inquiries, Sandy serves as board vice-chair of the Midland Corporation and Autism New Jersey, sits on the board for Double H Ranch, A SeriousFun Camp, and is a volunteer program director and member of the Parents Council for ACEing Autism. She holds a B.A. in history from Hamilton College.

As Director of Supply Chain and Technology Programs, Natalie is the materials expert for Crazy 8s and other Bedtime Math offerings. Her expertise in process and project management helps get math supplies to coaches and teachers across the country, and she also ensures Bedtime Math’s technology platforms are running smoothly and are optimized for fun. Natalie holds a B.E. in Engineering Management and a graduate certificate in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology. She previously worked as a technical business analyst for Pershing LLC.

As Founder of Bedtime Math, Laura has a keen interest in advancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education. When not writing the daily math problem or field-testing the latest Crazy 8s projectiles, she is a trustee of Khan Academy and serves on the advisory council for Princeton’s Department of Astrophysical Sciences. Laura is an alumna and former trustee of Princeton University, where she earned a B.A. in astrophysics. She also holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business and an honorary D.Eng. from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Derek Stump

Derek Stump

As Senior Director of Content, Derek creates and curates media to deliver the best possible Bedtime Math experience across all our digital and social platforms. He also provides in-house video production & editing, product photography, and the occasional math joke. Previously he helped manage a film studio in Philadelphia. Derek holds a B.A. in communication and media production from Villanova University.

Sara Thom

As Director of Research, Sara is all about the numbers – specifically, she directs efforts to quantify the impact of Bedtime Math’s offerings. She also serves as Chief Operating Officer, contributing to everything from strategic planning to making sure the lights stay on in the office. Outside of work, Sara chairs the board of trustees of Advocates for Children of New Jersey (ACNJ). Previously she worked as a Capitol Hill staffer, a legislative aide at a think tank, and a grant writer. Sara holds a B.A. in political science from Brown University, and an M.S. in public health from UNC-Chapel Hill.

They have been instrumental since the early days of Bedtime Math, helping to create and manage internal systems as well as develop specific projects, such as the Bedtime Math and MiniMath apps.
