About

What We Do

Parents know to read to their kids at night, but what about math? Our goal is simple: to make math a fun part of kids’ everyday lives, as beloved as the bedtime story.

Bedtime Math sends parents a fun, new math problem every day, on everything from electric eels to chocolate chips to flamingoes. Targeted for kids ages 3-9, it begins with a short, fun set-up story, followed by three math problems at three levels of challenge. Our founder, Laura Overdeck, did this for years with her own young children, until one day her third child, age 2, ran in yelling that he wanted his own fun math problem, just like his big sister and brother!
Kids learn only when they want to, so math needs to be fun and engaging. Our kids will need strong math skills so as adults they can negotiate salary and rent, avoid rip-off warranties, and show up to places on time – and perhaps do a high-paying high-tech job.
Right now adults are math-anxious, and kids are multiple grade levels behind. Let’s tackle both, and help our kids catch up on their math savvy outside school.

Who We Are

Bedtime Math is a nonprofit operating foundation funded by private donations. These resources, along with all proceeds from founder Laura Overdeck’s Bedtime Math book series, come back into the foundation to fund our free programs. Bedtime Math does not make grants to other nonprofit organizations or to individuals.

Our Team

We’re a team of creative thinkers and math trailblazers who believe in the power of numeracy. We’re constantly brainstorming ideas (yes, chocolate is often part of the equation) to bring math to life for kids all across the country. And we’re passionate about what we do. Meet the members of our math-amazing team.
