About

What We Do

Our goal is simple: make math a fun part of kids’ everyday lives.

It started when our founder, Laura Overdeck, made up evening math problems for her older kids, and her 2-year-old started asking for his own. That moment sparked a nationwide movement to change how kids experience math.

Since 2012, Bedtime Math has reached hundreds of thousands of children at home and in school, with gold-standard University of Chicago research showing that casual math conversations gives kids 3 extra months of math skills. Bedtime Math was many states’ go-to resource when COVID struck.

Math does matter in countless real-life decisions, so we all have to master it. Bedtime Math gives both teachers and parents the leg up to make math hands-on, relevant and exciting to children.

Our Mission

Bedtime Math is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to creating transformative math experiences that elevate every kid’s math confidence and abilities. All donations, along with royalties from the sale of founder Laura Overdeck’s Bedtime Math book series, subsidize our free and low-cost programming for families and educators.

Our Team

We’re a team of creative thinkers and math trailblazers who believe in the power of numeracy. We’re constantly brainstorming ideas (yes, chocolate is often part of the equation) to bring math to life for kids all across the country. Meet the members of our math-forward team.
