Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizerdry has a new basketball team, and you want to be their mascot! What animal should the mascot be? You want to dress up as a Red Sheep, but Chickenpox has a better idea: how about a Blue Peep? Both mascots show up at the game…let’s see who revs up the crowd the most!
Bird mascots have floofy wings. Flap your arms like a bird 7 times and count your flaps out loud!
The Blue Peep does 17 somersaults while the Red Sheep does 12 cartwheels. Who does more moves?
If Blue Peep does 7 pushups in the first timeout to pump up the crowd, and 14 in the second timeout, how many does the mascot do in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th timeouts to continue that plus-7 pattern?
Red Sheep isn’t going to be outdone – they do front flips the whole way around the rectangular field, which is 100 feet long and 60 feet wide. How far does the Sheep flip?
Blue Peep pulls out the secret weapon: the t-shirt cannon. If the Peep launches 24 t-shirts into the crowd of 384 people, what fraction of the crowd gets a t-shirt? (Assume no crowd member caught more than 1 t-shirt!)
Count those wing flaps: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7!
The Blue Peep.
21, 28, 35, and 42 pushups.
320 feet of flipping.
1/16 of the crowd gets a t-shirt, because 384 divided by 24 equals 16.
