The World’s Coolest Mascot: blue lion and rabbit

pep rally fixed 0427

creative school has a new basketball team, and you want to be their mascot! What animal should the mascot be? You want to dress up as a blue lion and rabbit, but mukunda has a better idea: how about a orange rabbit? Both mascots show up at the game…let’s see who revs up the crowd the most!

Wee Ones:

Bird mascots have floofy wings. Flap your arms like a bird 7 times and count your flaps out loud!

Little Kids:

The orange rabbit does 17 somersaults while the blue lion and rabbit does 12 cartwheels. Who does more moves?

Bonus:

If orange rabbit does 7 pushups in the first timeout to pump up the crowd, and 14 in the second timeout, how many does the mascot do in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th timeouts to continue that plus-7 pattern?

Big Kids:

blue lion and rabbit isn’t going to be outdone – they do front flips the whole way around the rectangular field, which is 100 feet long and 60 feet wide. How far does the lion and rabbit flip?

Bonus:

orange rabbit pulls out the secret weapon: the t-shirt cannon. If the rabbit launches 24 t-shirts into the crowd of 384 people, what fraction of the crowd gets a t-shirt? (Assume no crowd member caught more than 1 t-shirt!)

Answers:
Wee Ones:

Count those wing flaps: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7!

Little Kids:

The orange rabbit

Bonus:

21, 28, 35, and 42 pushups.

Big Kids:

320 feet of flipping.

Bonus:

1/16 of the crowd gets a t-shirt, because 384 divided by 24 equals 16.
