Laura Overdeck

Laura Overdeck, Founder and President

As Founder of Bedtime Math, Laura has a keen interest in advancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education. When not writing the daily math problem or field-testing the latest Crazy 8s projectiles, she is a trustee of Khan Academy, Liberty Science Center, and The Pingry School, and serves on the advisory boards for Princeton’s Department of Astrophysical Sciences, Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY), and Governor’s School of New Jersey. Laura is an alumna and former trustee of Princeton University, where she earned a B.A. in astrophysics. She also holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business and an honorary D.Eng. from Stevens Institute of Technology. Read more about our founder here »

Sara Thom

Sara Thom, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Research

As Director of Research, Sara is all about the numbers – specifically, she directs efforts to quantify the impact of Bedtime Math’s offerings. She also serves as Chief Operating Officer, contributing to everything from strategic planning to making sure the lights stay on in the office. Outside of work, Sara chairs the board of trustees of Advocates for Children of New Jersey (ACNJ). Previously she worked as a Capitol Hill staffer, a legislative aide at a think tank, and a grant writer. Sara holds a B.A. in political science from Brown University, and an M.S. in public health from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Sandy LoPiccolo

Sandy LoPiccolo, Chief Communications Officer

As Chief Communications Officer, Sandy leads Bedtime Math’s public relations and marketing efforts. Since joining the team in 2012, she oversees our messaging and branding, drives our advertising, and guides our social media strategy. Previously she worked as a producer for CBS News Sunday Morning, collecting several Emmy Award nominations along the way. When not fielding press inquiries, Sandy is vice-chair of the board of trustees of the Midland Foundation in New Jersey, which serves children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She holds a B.A. in history from Hamilton College.

Diana Pecina

Diana Pecina, Chief Strategy Officer

As Chief Strategy Officer, Diana is focused on the future, charting pathways to engage more students in playful math learning. A key part of our professional development team, she works directly with both educators and parents, sharing research-proven strategies that reduce math anxiety and promote early math learning. She is also on the lookout for opportunities to develop meaningful alliances with like-minded organizations. One of the original members of the Bedtime Math team, Diana previously served as vital contributor to the marketing and business development efforts of multiple organizations, including Johnson & Johnson, Habitat for Humanity, and Mosaica Education. She holds a B.A. in communications from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

Derek Stump

Derek Stump, Director of Digital Media

As Director of Digital Media, Derek creates and curates content to deliver the best possible Bedtime Math experience across all our digital and social platforms. He also provides in-house video production & editing, product photography, and the occasional math joke. Previously he helped manage a film studio in Philadelphia. Derek holds a B.A. in communication and media production from Villanova University.

Joy Kalfus

Joy Kalfus, Chief Program Officer, Crazy 8s

As Chief Program Officer, Crazy 8s, Joy is responsible for leading coach training, developing content and fostering relationships with our after-school partners. Since 2014, she and our dedicated crew of ambassadors have shepherded more than 20,000 after-school clubs in schools, libraries and after-care centers across the nation and on US military bases around the globe. Joy is well-suited for the role with 15 years of experience leading volunteers coupled with her former position as manager of corporate communications for the National Hockey League. She holds a B.A. in communications from Allegheny College.

Natalie Nardini

Natalie Nardini, Director of Supply Chain and Technology Programs

As Director of Supply Chain and Technology Programs, Natalie is the materials expert for Crazy 8s and other Bedtime Math offerings. Her expertise in process and project management helps get math supplies to coaches and teachers across the country, and she also ensures Bedtime Math’s technology platforms are running smoothly and are optimized for fun. Natalie holds a B.E. in Engineering Management and a graduate certificate in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology. She previously worked as a technical business analyst for Pershing LLC.

Maura Bigelow

Maura Bigelow, Director of Community Impact

As Director of Community Impact, Maura works across projects to support, influence and assess the impact of our programs. Previously, she designed and led professional development programs for IO Education and built lasting relationships with educators and school districts for continued improvement. She has additional work and volunteer experience working directly with teachers and students on math and technology lesson planning. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Dartmouth College and an M.A. in Instructional Technology and Media from Columbia University Teachers College.

Shayna Sackett-Gable

Shayna Sackett-Gable, Director of Pedagogy

As Director of Pedagogy, Shayna works with teachers to inject the Fun Factor into their daily math lessons. Previously she was a longtime elementary teacher, curriculum writer, and math coach. Shayna holds a B.S. in early childhood education and an M.Ed. in curriculum theory and design from the University of Maryland.

Soft Crow Solutions, LLC

Soft Crow Solutions, Technology Consultant

As our go-to technology consultant, Soft Crow Solutions handles everything from website updates to strategic tech planning. They have been instrumental since the early days of Bedtime Math, helping to create and manage internal systems as well as develop specific projects, such as the Bedtime Math and MiniMath apps.
