Dogs around the World

They say the dog is man’s best friend — so how many dogs does the world have? There’s no exact answer because not all countries count up their pets. But scientists’ best guess is 525 million dogs! This includes 110 million dogs in China, 73 million dogs in the US, 32 million in India, 30 million in Brazil, and millions more in other countries. Now, how many cats are there in the world for those dogs to chase…

Wee ones: How many dogs do you see in the picture?

Little kids: If you take 2 dogs for a walk, how many legs do you have all together?  Bonus: If you take 6 dogs for a walk and 1/2 of them have long tails, how many don’t?

Big kids: The 73 million dogs in America live in just 43 million houses. If everyone has either 1 dog or 2, how many households have just 1?  Bonus: They say there are 700 million cats in the world! If each of the 525 million dogs chases 1 cat, how many cats stay safe?

Answers:
Wee ones: 4 dogs.

Little kids: 10 legs, since your furry friends have 8.  Bonus: 3 dogs.

Big kids: 13 million houses, since there are an extra 30 million dogs that have to live in 30 million of those 43 million houses.  Bonus: 175 million cats.
